It’s all about economic development in the context of historic preservation — meaning we grow and support the downtown economy while honoring our unique character and history.
How the Program Is Structured
Main Street work is organized around four key areas of focus, sometimes called the Main Street Four Points — and each plays a valuable role in downtown success:
1. Economic Vitality
This is all about strengthening and diversifying our downtown economy — from supporting existing businesses and attracting new ones to encouraging smart investment and connecting entrepreneurs with tools and resources.
2. Design
Design focuses on the physical and visual elements of downtown — from beautiful storefronts and well-planned public spaces to historic preservation and signage that invites people to linger and explore.
